TAG’s Position on the City of Baytown 2025 Mobility Bond

Published by taghouprod on

The Transportation Advocacy Group – Houston Region (TAG) strongly supports the City of Baytown’s 2025 Mobility Bond and urges voters to approve this important investment in regional mobility.

TAG’s mission is to improve multi-modal regional mobility by advocating for funding and collaborating with public, private, and nonprofit partners, as well as local, state, and federal leadership, to advance transportation infrastructure across the Houston region.

The proposed Baytown Mobility Bond aligns directly with that mission by targeting critical investments in arterial roadways, neighborhood streets, sidewalks, and multimodal improvements that will enhance both local mobility and regional freight connectivity.

Transportation infrastructure along and adjacent to Houston’s ship channel plays a vital role in the Houston region’s economic vitality as an industrial and freight hub anchored by the Port of Houston, the petrochemical complex, and expanding logistics corridors. Projects such as the widening of Garth Road, improvements to Cedar Bayou–Lynchburg Road, and enhancements to neighborhood connections will:

● Improve access to employment centers

● Reduce congestion

● Support the safe and efficient movement of freight across the region

These investments complement regional priorities championed by TAG and our regional partners.

By leveraging federal dollars alongside locally supported bonds, Baytown’s bond initiative demonstrates fiscal leadership—an approach TAG consistently promotes as essential to meeting the Houston region’s transportation infrastructure needs.

TAG commends the City of Baytown for its transparency and community engagement in developing this bond program and encourages voters living in

Baytown to support these critical mobility investments during early voting and on Election Day, November 4
