89th Legislative Priorities Wins
After 140 days of legislative activity, the 89th Texas Legislature adjourned Sine Die on June 2, 2025. This session saw the highest volume of bills filed in recent Texas legislative history. In total, the Legislature passed 1,300 bills and joint resolutions, while over 8,000 others died in committee or failed to meet procedural deadlines.
The good news – Thanks to our Green Light Houston Advocacy Day, as well as ongoing efforts from TAG members and our partners, we had substantial transportation wins! This included road projects, preservation of current funding tools, and a new grant program for safer rail crossings.

In addition, the Houston Airport System received approvals for capital projects and investment in transportation infrastructure, and the Port of Houston received support as part of the Texas Port mission plan. All proof that transportation advocacy makes a difference!
We celebrate these victories as well as are already looking ahead to plan our priorities for the 90th session in 2027, which we will declare as “The Transportation Session.”
